This is a training programme on realistic and purposeful planning. After completing the programme, you will have
- created a flexible 3-year plan that spans your PhD and first year(s) after
- acquired skills to develop, manage and deliver such plans
Content
The programme has four main topics and training sessions:
- Identifying and formulating a long term vision
- Turning the vision into an actionable plan
- Dealing with roadblocks
- Connecting and working with people
The programme is delivered as part of a collaboration between the Career Services (CS), the Institute for Academic Development (IAD), the Student Counselling Services (SCS), and the UKRI CDT in Biomedical AI at the University of Edinburgh.

The sessions run from 10.30am to 12 in room G.03 in the Bayes Centre (room on the ground floor, to the right when you come in). We will further have an end-of-programme reception to exchange aspects of the developed plans (date and format will be announced later).

Eligible year groups are contacted by email with a link to a sign-up sheet.
Signing up to the programme means that you commit to attending all sessions and the end-of-programme reception. Please expect to spend at least one additional hour after each session to reflect on the content or work out some details of your plan.
